My creative journey started in Chicago. I grew up playing sports, listening to music and immersing myself in video games. I quickly realized that my passion was in design when I created graphics for multiple PC games and music releases.
I moved on to study marketing and design at Columbia College Chicago (BFA). I spent my college years freelancing for friends and small businesses, expanding my network. I learned how to use photoshop, illustrator and indesign on my free time and was able to refine my design style at school. During college, I landed a design internship at a high-end restaurant in Goose Island. My work consisted of creating food, drink menus and promotions for various weekly events. I worked with the restaurant managers, owners and photographers to develop a consistent vision for the brand.
Right after graduation week, I started working at a small advertising agency, called OnDemand Advertising. We were a tight-knit team that provided design support and marketing for a number of clients in the hospitality and automotive industry. I was able to grow into the head graphic designer role within a year, leading a team of 2 print and web designers. I learned how to work on diverse projects, collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to meet strict print and email deadlines.
I was then referred to Dealer Inspire/Launch Digital Marketing by one of my previous supervisors at OnDemand. I was excited to join the small team of 35 employees. It was a niche tech startup that helped get my creative juices flowing even further. The culture, high energy and motivational environment made me feel at home. As a mid-level designer, I was able to work on websites and digital marketing pieces for clients in various industries.
My role at Dealer Inspire evolved into senior designer as the company grew rapidly. We developed a diverse creative team that was able to tackle anything thrown at us. Our client base grew quick and we had to keep up with demand. The company transformed from a tech startup to a large enterprise. I saw a dire need to create a team and process to fulfill creative for our post-go-live clients. I was then able to establish my own creative team and scale a whole new process within Salesforce that now provides services to over 1,000 clients. Creating this process involved brainstorming with stakeholders to ensure a seamless experience within our cross-functional teams. We are now a team of 5 diverse designers that specialize in creating a connected consumer experience, growing revenue, and a desire for ultimate client satisfaction.
